Whether your child needs a routine checkup or more complex dental treatment, MCFS may be able to provide financial assistance for a variety of dental procedures, including:

Cleanings and Exams

Regular checkups, typically every six months, are essential for preventing cavities and gum disease. During a checkup, your child’s dentist will clean their teeth, examine them for cavities and other problems, and take X-rays if necessary.

Fillings

Cavities are holes in the teeth caused by tooth decay. If left untreated, cavities can grow larger and become more painful. Fillings are used to repair cavities and prevent further damage to the tooth. There are different types of fillings available, and your child’s dentist will recommend the best option based on the size and location of the cavity.

Extractions

Sometimes a tooth is so severely damaged or infected that it cannot be saved. In these cases, an extraction may be necessary. Extractions can be simple or surgical, depending on the complexity of the situation.

Hospital Facility Fees

In some cases, children may require dental procedures in a hospital setting. This could be necessary if they need general anesthesia (to be completely unconscious) during the procedure, or if they have a medical condition that makes it difficult or unsafe to perform the procedure in a dental office setting. MCFS may be able to assist with the hospital facility fees associated with these procedures.

Dental Anesthesia

Some children may experience anxiety or fear during dental procedures. Dental anesthesia can help children feel more comfortable and relaxed during treatment. There are different types of dental anesthesia available, including nitrous oxide (laughing gas), sedation dentistry (medication that helps you relax), and general anesthesia. The type of anesthesia that is right for your child will depend on their age, anxiety level, and the complexity of the procedure.

Fantastic Teeth Fan Club

Preventing Problems Before They Start

We’re passionate about prevention! That’s why we’ve created the Fantastic Teeth Fan Club, a program designed to teach kids and parents about good oral hygiene. We’ve partnered with Masonic Lodges and schools across Texas to provide free tooth decay prevention kits to over 1.4 million first-graders. These kits include a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and educational materials to help kids learn lifelong healthy habits.
